CSR Meetings impact evaluation assessment on politics in Latin America

The CSR Meetings conducted in Colombia and Ecuador met with a warm response. This allowed entrepreneurs of both nationalities to share their views on the importance of developing Socially Responsible politics and the benefits that can be obtained from these.

Ecuador was the first destination of the Latin America tour held by World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB). The meetings were organized along with the Pontifical University of Ecuador (Pontificia Universidad of Ecuador – PUCE) on September 19.

During the event, the speakers shared their reports on the impact of Socially Responsible politics not only in Ecuador but in all Latin America. In addition, positive experiences on the subject, including the main challenges faced by implementing CSR communications, were addressed.

The speakers at the Meeting were: The Director of Quality and CSR (WORLDCOB), Eng. Daniel Javier; The Coordinator of Social Responsibility at PUCE, Juan Carlos González; The Professor of Communications at PUCE, Maria Imbanquingo; The Shared Value and Sustainability Manager at Conquito, Daniela Ugazzi; The Editor of the Líderes magazine, Pedro Maldonado; and the President of the Komite Communications Agency, Roque Iturralde.

The CSR Meeting was a great moment to highlight the effort of seven Ecuadorian Companies that obtained the WORLDCOB CSR 2011.3 certification. After an extensive verification process, these companies demonstrated how they promoted good working relations and are Socially Responsible with both the society and the environment.

On the other hand, on October 6, the CSR Meeting in Colombia was held at the Rosario University featuring Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility. The second Meeting featured Successful Experiences in Social Responsibility.

In the first panel, the participants were the Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility of RCN Television, Laura Pareja; the General Manager of P&M magazine, Carlos Fernando Vega; and the Director of Sustainability and Education Academy (AISO), Julio Andrés Rozo.

In the second part of the event, the role of the media to promote Social Responsibility and the main challenges of CSR communications and how to overcome them, were addressed.

In the second panel the speakers were the Director of Quality and CSR (WORLDCOB), Eng. Daniel Javier; the Director of Outreach and Inter-Institutional Relations, Dr. Antonio Roveda from Rosario university; the Coordinator of the Green Leaf Program- (Environmental Corporation Company – CAEM) Ferney Rojas; and the Director of Strategic Corporate Development of the Nogal corporation, Caroll Ariza.

In this part of the event, the speakers demonstrated the value of applying Socially Responsible policies to generate value to the company without the need to spend considerable sums of money or implement complex procedures.

On the other hand, the CSR Meetings are a great occasion to highlight the efforts of the 17 Colombian Companies that obtained the WORLDCOB CSR 2011.3 certification. After an extensive verification process, these companies demonstrated how they promoted good working relations and are Socially Responsible with both the society and the environment.
